THE NAMES OF THE CREATOR

God is known as Jehovah in the Old Testament which originated long before the arrival of Jesus (pbuh).

Yahweh is the name God revealed to Prophet Moses (pbuh) when he asked Him directly to tell him His Name. It is not really a name, but a statement of Existence, Causality and Permanence.

The point that needs to be understood by all is that God, the Father, Jehovah, Yahweh and Allah are one and the same God. There is only one True God no matter what people call Him. The Supreme One, the Almighty can be defined as being One Alone. There cannot be two supremes. Allah is simply the Arabic word for "the Almighty".

"Al" means "the". "ilah" means "God". The two words are joined together to form the word Allah, Glorified be He.

It is the word for God normally used by Arabic-speaking Christians in the Middle East as well as Muslims around the world.

It is the same God that inspired all the Prophets and Messengers at different periods throughout history.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL NAMES OF GOD

Allah, the Almighty, has many Beautiful Names and Attributes worthy of His Grandeur. Muslims remember God by mentioning these Names as a means of worshiping Him.

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

"Allah has ninety-nine Names, one hundred minus one, and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Paradise; and Allah is One and loves odd numbers."

God says:

"He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, does declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." [Quran 59:24]

"And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do." [Quran 7:180]

To those who ask whether Allah is the correct name of God:

God sent Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to all humanity as a guide and mentor. God made His message the last one, and made it a universal message until the Last Hour. God sent down the Glorious Quran in Arabic to the Prophet and He preserved and protected it against any distortion, change, or alteration. We still recite the Glorious Quran in the same form revealed to our Prophet (pbuh) fourteen centuries ago. The Glorious Quran is relevant for each and every time and place. It guides all people, regardless of their different colors and languages, to the path of goodness and it leads them to the truth, and to safety and happiness in this world as well as the Hereafter.

Before this, God sent down the Psalms, the Torah and the Gospels in the languages of the Children of Israel.

God, the Almighty, says:

"O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Now has come to you Our Messenger (Muhammad) explaining to you much of that which you used to hide from the Scripture and passing over (leaving out without explaining) much. Indeed, there has come to you from God a light and a plain Book (this Quran). Wherewith God guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness by His Will unto light and guides them to a Straight Way (Islamic Monotheism)." [Quran: 5:15-16]

"And truly, this (the Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Aalamin (mankind, spirits and all that exists), Which the trustworthy Holy Spirit [Gabriel] has brought down; Upon your heart (O Muhammad) that you may be (one) of the warners."
[Quran 26: 192-194].

Therefore, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that Arabic will be the official language in Paradise so that everyone can communicate with each other easily and God says in the Quran:

10. And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).

11. These will be those Nearest to Allah.

12. In Gardens of Bliss:

13. A number of people from those of old,

14. And a few from those of later times.

15. (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones),

16. Reclining on them, facing each other.

17. Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),

18. With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:

19. No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:

20. And with fruits, any that they may select:

21. And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.

22. And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-

23. Like unto Pearls well-guarded.

24. A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).

25. No frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-

26. Only the saying, "Salaam! Salaam!".

[Quran -- the Inevitable Event 56:10-26]

There is nothing to dispute over names and titles. Truth does not need to have symbols, names and languages.

All languages belong to God because He was the One Who created them. God tells us that the differences in colour and languages are a sign of His Greatness and Power in creation. He says:

“And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the differences of your languages and (skin) colours. Verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge.”
[Quran 30:22]

It is the duty of every Muslim and non-Muslim; man, woman, and child, to read The Holy Quran and try to understand it in their own capacity.

Peace be upon those who follow true guidance.
